COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA

BACO, the Bath based orchestra is open to all and provides an invaluable opportunity to gain or expand experience in orchestral playing in a relaxed environment.

Rehearsals Tuesdays 7-9pm at

King Edwards Junior School, Top Entrance,  North Road, Bath, BA2 6JA.

Our dates for this term are April 19, 26, May 3, 10, 17, 24, (not 31) and June 7.

Next term we'll meet on September 13, 20, 27, October 4, 11, 18, November 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, December 6, 13, with our autumn concert planned for Saturday 26th November

BACO proudly announces the return of its popular live concerts!


Saturday 11th June, 7.30pm, St Luke’s Church, Wellsway. Concert to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee with music by Elgar (Pomp and Circumstance March) and Walton (Crown Imperial).  There will also be music by Handel (Fireworks and Sarabande with variations), Sibelius (Karelia Suite) and Haydn (2 movements from Symphony 100).


Saturday 26th November, St Luke’s Church, Wellsway. Concert in celebration of BACO’s 20th anniversary with music by Schubert (Symphony 5 and an overture), Vaughan Williams (English Folk Song Suite) and some pieces played at our very first concert and at our 10th anniversary concert. It will include some lighter pieces such as the Dam Busters March.


Tickets just £5.00 on the door to cover expenses. There will also be a special collection in aid of the Severn Hospice in Shropshire in memory of a member of the orchestra who sadly passed away there due to cancer during the first lockdown.

 

The orchestra plays a variety of music, from symphonies by Beethoven, Haydn, Schubert etc, overtures by Mendelssohn, Brahms, Sullivan as well as Strauss waltzes, Handel's Water Music and the Hallelujah Chorus.
Songs from the shows, The King and I, My Fair Lady etc. Ronald Binge's Sailing By, White Christmas, Dambusters' March and even music from Pink Panther.
Also a number of concertos with excellent soloists a horn concerto, clarinet concerto, and the flute and harp concerto, all by Mozart, and a cello concerto by Haydn.
